An Edwardian conservatory is usually rectangular in shape, with a pitched roof. A Hipped-back Edwardian conservatory has a similar shape but comes with an angled roof so that it looks better on single-storey buildings, such as bungalows.

Victorian conservatories also have a pitched roof, but this tends to be steeper than that of the Edwardian extension. It also comes with a curved bay window to add elegance. A Gable conservatory is a contemporary and stylish form of extension with a roomy high-vaulted roof.
